Our Family - 'Outstanding in a Field'

My wife convinced me that this was the year for a family photo session.  Some of the results are shown here.  Thank goodness my wife is so beautiful and has passed on the 'beauty gene' to our kids and grandchildren.

Yup, could not be more proud of this wonderful family we've been blessed with.  Family and commitment to one another is truly the source of true happiness.  Hope I get to spend the next twenty years watching these little ones grow.

Who'll Stop the Rain

The past couple weeks have had me remembering the words to the CCR classic, 'Who'll Stop the Rain".  Non-stop thundershowers, sump bump bombing out, flooded basement (twice) and an old retriever that can't take the thunder any longer and wanders around our bed over and over again whining and panting.  We live in Edmonton, putting up with the nasty winters to enjoy the nice summers - not so much this year.
Not all bad news, however, our youngest grandchild celebrated her first birthday this past week and she is such a special little bug.  Not even 17 pounds yet, but the sweetest disposition and a momma's girl to boot.  Our kids had a nice party for her and she loved the cake as can be seen in the picture below:

Haven't heard CCR in awhile, watch and listen:

Canada Day in the Rockies

Twenty five years ago my wife and I contemplated a move for our family that would have far reaching implications for us then and our generations to follow.  We came to Alberta, Canada with the idea that we would spend a few years building a nest egg and then head back to the states.  Now looking back over these many years in Canada, I can't help but think that perhaps we made the best decision of our lives.  This was reinforced this past weekend when Holly and I took a quick three day trip to Canmore, AB and the Canadian Rockies.  There is no more beautiful place on earth that showcases the majesty and wonder that is our world.  Walking along a mountain stream, watching a group of male mule deer in full velvet wander through the backyards of this mountain community, sitting on the deck and enjoying the awe inspiring peaks of Three Sisters and so much more.  If I ever have a desire to feel closer to my maker I know I can get that when I visit his handiwork.

Canada is a wonderful place to live.  We are proud to have the heritage of having been born and raised in the states but the USA and Canada share so much in common.  Wonderful freedoms and people and so much to be thankful for.  Singing 'Oh, Canada' on Sunday morning in a group of like-minded people and having the backdrop of these amazing mountains spoke to my heart and made me proud to be a dual citizen of these two great nations.

We had a great time and I can't wait to do it again.  I truly love spending time with my sweetheart and still very much the woman of my dreams.
